At the heart of our approach is a deep respect for each child’s individuality and a joyful connection between children, families, the school community, and the natural world. Our trained educators are dedicated to inspiring, guiding, and supporting your child in where they are at currently, and guiding them to where they want and need to be. Along the way our educators will assist your child in building essential life skills and a strong academic foundation. By embracing each child’s unique potential, we empower them to grow into independent, confident, compassionate, and actively engaged global citizens.
Our Campuses
Little Woodland Preschool currently boasts three campuses along the I-94 corridor. Our original location opened in Lake Mills in 2013, with our second location becoming Little Woodland Preschool Belleville Campus in 2021, and most recently we opened our state of the art Mount Horeb location in 2025!

Our History
Our Story: The Roots of Little Woodland Preschool
Little Woodland Preschool began with a vision—to create a warm, nurturing environment where young children could learn and grow through discovery, creativity, and connection with nature. In 2020, we took our first step by purchasing an already-operating early childhood center, with the dream of transforming it into something truly special. Guided by our passion for Montessori principles, Reggio Emilia-inspired open-ended art, child-led exploration, and the belief that play is the foundation of learning, we began building a program that felt like home—for both children and families.
Our approach quickly resonated. We focused on creating a space where children from 6 weeks to 6 years old could thrive—developing independence through hands-on Montessori work, expressing themselves through open-ended art experiences, and growing in confidence through daily outdoor adventures that connect them to the world around them.
By 2021, the success of our first location inspired us to expand, and we proudly opened our second school in Belleville, WI. As word of our unique, holistic approach continued to spread, we remained committed to our core values: nurturing curiosity, honoring each child’s individual path, and building a strong sense of community.
In April 2025, we celebrated another milestone with the opening of our state-of-the-art location in Mount Horeb, WI. This beautiful new campus reflects everything we’ve learned along the way—a place where nature, creativity, and intentional learning come together in a thoughtfully designed environment.
Today, Little Woodland Preschool is more than a school—it’s a growing family of educators, children, and families who believe in the power of child-centered learning, the magic of play, and the joy of growing together.
